Ok, I've got a 320G drive I want to add to a box that's sharing 6 SCSI drives. So, since the machine I'm suing (HP Proliant Server) has no IDE channel onboard, I was going to add a PCI IDE card. Any recommends? I have the Maxtor SATA 150 card that came bundled with the drive, but NASLite doesn't seem to see it. Anyone have recommends for a cheap IDE card (that can see large drives (320/400)

the problem with cheap cards is that they dont always come with the same chipset for the same model number.

I recently purchased two identical SATA controller cards cheap from the same shop and one worked and the other didnt. On examination the idetical cards had different chipsets.

This is the annoying danger of using model numbers only for compatibilty information.

If i were you i would buy an old 3ware RAID card.

FYI.

Just installed a CompUSA SATA 150 card and a Maxtor 300G. NASLite didn't recognize it until I used the Maxtor CD that came with the drive to format it and write the drivers to the floppy disk.

When I rebooted to NL, then it recognized it and reformatted it for use on NL. Everything went ok after that.

HTH.

Interesting. I've been looking at cards that do HW RAID-1 for swap capability. You can get the NetCell Revolution RAID0/1/3 cards very cheaply now, but I'm not sure how compatible they are with NASLite. I'll have to do some research.

tmservo,

Have you dug up any information on these cards and NasLite? I've purchased one and would like to know if I can use it for a NasLite box. I'm a devout fan of NasLite (currently running on an old P200 + floppy version). I'd really like to upgrade to NasLite 2 if my hardware is supported. From the documentation I've seen, it's not listed. :(

Thanks!

i am having a similar problem but do not have the CD that DMW is talking about. I have an LSI Megaraid i4 that is supported by NL according to the hardware guide, NL does not recognize my array that is on my card. but if I take the card out and put it in my windows PC I can use the drive like normal. Anyone know of any tricks that will make the drive work??
