NASLite Network Attached Storage

I have 4 hard drives in my Nas PC. Drive 2 died recently so I swapped it out with a new hard drive.....

Issues:
Drive 4 reads the following
Disk-4 Initialization Messages

1. Checking for Disk-4
2. Found Disk-4 partition
3. Attempting to fix Disk-4 filesystem
4. Disk-4 filesystem is not mountable

Disk-4 Hardware

* Maxtor 5T020H2, ATA DISK drive
* attached ide-disk driver.
* host protected area => 1
* 39062500 sectors (20000 MB) w/2048KiB Cache, CHS=38752/16/63

NOTE: Disk-4 is installed and can be configured for use with NASLite-SMB.

I had a lot of data on here and am wondering why it reads this when it was configured and had data on it.....


Any Ideas....

OK so an update on the above....

I tried the drive on all other three IDE options and got the same error.

Then I came across this from another post:

This worked like a charm.....copied data over to my windows PC for now.

Well I put the drive back in my Nas box and it worked fine now - I am confused and I am going to reformat it but glad there is some good info around here.

I had a similar problem when I accidentally shut the machine off without doing the shut down command

I copied the data over to a windows machine using rlinux and then put the disk back in NASLite and configured it, then copied the data back. No problems since.

Maybe you had a short power outage. I've since put my box on a UPS.

i also suffered a drive loss (thou mine happened while doing controlled shutdowns for swaping in a new bigger drive)

i actually used the repair feature built into naslite, it reported heaps of errors and lost blocks, but i don't seem to have lost anything off the drive

(ps Tony it needs an auto repair option or repair all, as pressing y a couple of hundred time was a pita)
