NASLite Network Attached Storage

I previously had disk-1 and disk-3. I removed disk-1 for use in another system, plugged the NAS computer back up and now disk-3 doesn't show up. Any ideas?

It sounds to me like you may have a jumper issue. If drive 3 was a slave before, you will probably need to change the jumper to make it a master. This is only a guess, but could be the case. Report back and let us know what you find.

Odd, well for the record I got this working by hooking a CD-ROM up and running e2fsck in Knoppix.

After removing the CD-ROM drive it was gone again... I didn't know changing the number of drives would cause them all to disappear. *shrug*

Some drives have a different jumper settings for "single master" and "master with slave"

I've even seen this before with double point cables (i.e. can take 2 devices) and a single IDE device . My fix was to fork out the $8 for a new cable.

As Tony mentioned jumbers can be a big pain, so you may jsut wanan check them. If all esle fails, run ultimatebootcd and run the nessecary diag. tools.
