NASLite Network Attached Storage

I connect my Naslite+ box into a router whose gateway is 192.168.15.1. The DHCP range is from .100 to .150. I have three wired computers and one laptop who get their IP's through DHCP. My question: does it make a difference to assign the Naslite+ box an IP before the DHCP range (say 192.168.15.2) or after (192.168.15.151)? Also, I have a wireless AP that I need to assign an adress to as well. Does the address I assign this AP impact the address I assign the Naslite+ box in anyway? (Obviously they shouldn't be the same ). Thanks for your help.

@rob0809: I'm not a networking expert, but I'm pretty sure you want to use a fixed IP address that is outside the range your DHCP server will assign. Otherwise, you run the risk of having the server assign the same IP address to one of the PCs as the fixed IP address that you assigned to the NAS server.

@rob0809: I just re-read your question and realized that you probably already understand that the fixed IP address needs to be outside the range your DHCP server assigns. I don't think it matters whether it is before the range, or after.

Thanks for your input. I didn't think it did but I'm having some port forwarding problems with bittorrent so I thought maybe that was the reason.

the thign that really matter (on top of whats been said so far is the subnet)

If your subnet mast is 255.255.255.0 then your cool.

if it is something weird then perhaps not
