I'm trying to use a backup program named Second Copy that I've used successfully in the past. Everytime I try to create a backup of my data using Second Copy it fails with the error "Access Denied on the lost+found directory"

I am trying to backup data from a regular drive to my NASlite+ SMB mounted Disk-1.

Any idea how to get around this?

Thanks!

I suggest you have no interest in this directory so just skip it ;)

Fat,

It's even easier than that. I just removed the lost+found directory now Second Copy works great.

The problem is that Second Copy checks both the source and destination for files. The lost+found directory is on the destination drive so I didn't think it would cause a problem. Not being able to read lost+found (mode 700) caused Second Copy to fail even if I put lost+found in the exclusion list.

I don't think I need lost+found unless linux requires it for fsck. I know in Unix we were able to ignore lost+found but since I have no control over the OS other than through the NASlite interface, I'm not sure what I can do.
