Hello

First thanks for a great product.

I have used Naslite - smg on a floppy but now I have purchase Naslite + 1.2

I can`t login. I used admin as username and nas as password.

I have no floppydisk in the floppydrive.

Can some one help me ?

Best regards
Dennis

Hmmm, is this happening the first time when you put in the CD and boot up (i.e., you are not trying to boot with a conficuration floppy in the floppy drive)?

Sounds obvious, but the first thing I would suspect is the keyboard. Is it plugged in properly? Is it new or old? I have an old laptop and the keyboard sometimes gives me double or triple letters when I hit a key. This was so problematic when I was typing in passwords (since you can't see what you're typing to make corrections), that I had to hook up a KVM switch and use a different keyboard. So, having had keyboard problems in the past, that's why it's the first thing I would suspect.

I had big login problems at first, but that was when I had already configured the NAS (i.e., I was able to login using admin/nas when initially booting from the CD) and had saved the configuration on a floppy disk. So, in my case I think the problem was related to the floppy (although, Tony has indicated that that shouldn't have been the source of my problem). In your case, as I understand it, you don't even have a configuration floppy in the drive.

Other than the keyboard, I'm not sure what it could be.

It just occurred to me that you might also want to re-download the image file, re-burn it to a CD, and give the new CD a try. Maybe you got a bad download or image burn.

Thanks for your answer.

I have try re-download the iso image and re-burn it but no luck.

The hardware I used is not the problems I think because it works with
NasLite-SMG without anykind of problems.

If NASLite-SMB works, then NASLite+ should also work. The code that handles the login is the same on both. The problem is most definately hardware related. Here is how i'd approach it:

1. Unplug the floppy drive cable from the controller and boot the CD. Try logging in. If you can then the problem is floppy drive or cable.

2. If 1 doesn't work, try another keyboard. Make sure you are using all lower case.

3. If both of the above fail, then try booting the CD on another computer (floppy disk out of drive) and try logging in.

If none of the above work, then i'd say that you have a bad CD, but that's highly unlikely if you can boot and get to the login screen.

Hope that helps.

Interesting. I wouldn't have suspected the floppy drive itself since you said there was no floppy in the drive in your original post.

Live and learn.

Hi,
I had the same problem.
Seems that without a floppy installed you may not log on.
