Hi.

Is it possible to use a different filesystem other then ext2 or ext3 for the STORAGE DISKS?(not worried about the filesystem for the system)

I was thinking of re-formatting my drives to the ReiserFS filesystem used in several Linux distros such as Xandros and Linspire.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReiserFS

According to the Wikipedia information, ReiserFS is supported from Linux Kernel 2.4.1, and NASLite's kernel would seem to be built on a variation of Linux kernel 2.4.35, which should IN THEORY, make ReiserFS compatible with NASLite at kernel level.

However, I would like to know what others think.

Well, I was told it was a better filesystem by one of my Linux friends, but after reading all the Wikipedia article AFTER posting the message in the first post, I am beginning to wonder why he said that to me, as it would seem to have it's own problems...

For now, I have changed my mind, and will stay with ext3.

HOWEVER, for the sake of argument, would you be able to take NASLite drives out of the server, and format the storage partitions using a Linux CD to ReiserFS if I wanted to do it(again, not planning to at this stage after some reading)?
