I am using the naslite 2 ccd version for more than a year now and i am very satisfied with it but lately the server cd-rom stopped working and the only way to make it work is to boot the naslite 2 cd from a usb cdrom plugged after my server !
Since i have an compactflash to ide adapter and a 2.5gb microdrive, i wish to know if there is a possibility to install on that microdrive so i do not need the cd anymore !
I know you guys have for sale the hdd version but i think its a bit abusive to have buy the same product again just so i can use it on a hdd

Somewhere here there was a post on putting cdd on a usb device. I bet you can take a similar approach and put it on the hard drive or cf. Search for that and see what you can come up with.

Americans were and still are unhappy with the way russians treat their citisens. And yeah we are odd, funny and seldom bad. :P :)

That was me that did that with a USB distro of the software to a boot CDROM. I needed to boot from a CDROM (hardware issue that would not allow me to boot from USB) but didn't want to be using a floppy to store the configuration. It has been a LOOOOONG time since I did this but the basics were as follows. I made an image of the USB key and then used that to make a bootable CDROM from it. In Nero, there are other programs that will do the same, I used the potion to make the CDROM bootable and install the image on it. It still requires that the USB key be in the machine to store the configuration file but since the machine is booted it then sees the USB key and mounts it. Kind of a chicken and the egg thing.

Tony and Ralph are pretty good guys, they should be able to take care of you in some way on this one.

Mike

The next release of NASLite-2 (v2.07) will go away with the CDD/USB/HDD and feature a single unified installer that will allow NASLite-2 to be installed on every media visible by the kernel. The new installer has been developed for NASLite-M2 and will be used to replace the existing NASLite-2 installers. All current HDD/CDD/USB license IDs will be usable with NASLite-2 v2.07.

We are pretty confident that NASLite-M2 will be out in the following weeks. I know I said that over a month ago, but such is the nature of this exercise. At any rate, NASLite-2 v2.07 will immediately follow the release of M2, so stay tuned.

It sounds like the installation process will allow installation to HDD / USB / CDD in the new release (from what Tony & Ralph have said elsewhere). This means in effect that a valid CDD license will be able to be installed to HDD at v2.07.

Sounds good to me as I have 1 x USB and 1 x HDD (both on CF > IDE adapters....).

That is true. The new installer will in fact attempt to install on everything NASLite considers storage media, so SCSI and RAID can also be used to boot from provided the BIOS has the capability.
