I am running Naslite-2 CDD V2.05 with two 160Gb Maxtor drives. I have been away somewhere hot and sandy for the past 6 months and on returning home was informed by my other half that the server would no longer boot.

On investigation the boot process hangs just after the detection of the bootable CD. When I disconnect both hard discs the server boots up correctly, but as soon as I connect either disc it hangs without booting from the CD.

I then found and old Naslite-SMB floppy disc, inserted that and the system booted up correctly, detected both hard discs and was viewable on the network.

If I put the Naslite-2 configuration disk it just hangs again.

Does anyone know what my problem might be?

Andy

do you remeber all your settings?
if so, you could try with a blank new floppy in the drive
you would have to enter all your settings (licence, unlock, IP, etc) then

Actually, before reconfiguring things it's probably a good idea to reset the bios and make sure things are tights in there. Who knows what went on while you were playing in the sand :P

i got it sorted out, thanks.

The initial problem was that a stick of RAM had failed. This caused the unlock code to be invalid so the discs were not released to the network.

I used the opportunity to upgrade to V2.10 which includes mirroring and am fully up and working.
