I have one empty PCI-E (1x) slot on my motherboard. Does M2 support sata cards plugged into a PCI-E slot or only PCI? Did not see this in hardware ref. guide. Just want to add more drives. thanks

No, the 2.4.xx kernel that M2 is based on does NOT support PCIe devices. The next release of NL (according to Tony and Ralph) is based on the 2.6.xx kernel and will include much improved support for more modern cards and PCIe devices. The release date has not been announced yet but they say it will be soon, like this year.

Naslite2 recognises PCIe graphics cards, will it not recognise a PCIe SATA controller as long as the controller chip is supported?

Different beast a graphic card is.

As far as I know there are no storage cards yet supported. I and others are always happy to let you spend your money and time to try it out to see if it does work. :D

Thanks for the info....will be nice to get PCI-E added. The board I have has onboard NIC that is PCI-E, so the NIC would not work. I have extra NIC cards so so worry, but PCI-E support would be awesome.

Can't wait for next version....I love it.

Yes, i've done a quick check on PCIe SATA controllers and all of the chipsets are only on the Core3 hardware list.

I wonder how long before a core3 release, and will an M2 verion be available at the same time?

Hopefully Core3 will be out this month, I have a slight issue I need to resolve before we release it for testing.

The testing period should be really short on this release since we're primarily looking at the core and not the nas functionality so much.

Brilliant!!
I'm already sourcing bits to build a smaller quieter system than my current one, and it will need Core 3.

Cheers :D
