I was copying some files to my NAS box and was wondering just how well it performs.
Now I just copied a 5.28 GB folder (171 files) from my local computer to my NAS box and it only took me 9:45 seconds. I don't have a gigbit NIC in the NAS box and it runs thru a Belkin Wireless G router. I have a 3.2GHz Pent 4 on an ASUS P5AD2 Deluxe with 1 Gb of RAM. The drives are WD5002ABYS using the onboard controller. I didn't test read performance but I was streaming music from the NAS at the same time with no hiccups.
I am seeing that as 9MB/sec is that right? While that doesnt seem slow compared to those CNET charts (see the end). I see alot of people listing that they get as much as 20MB/sec 40MB/sec or 50MB/sec. What can I do to improve the speed? I know I could get a faster router/NIC but when I am only at 9/MB that doesn't seem to be the limiting factor.
Here is my startup log. Any ideas??
