Yes, and configure the license ID, unlock since those won't carry over from your previous install.

Cheers. A job for next weekend. And to change to USb (to free up an IDE channel) is a case of "installing" it if my BIOS supports booting from USB?

I assume you mean CD > USB? SHould be no problem at all.

Is it necessary to re format the configuration floppy or will it be updated when upgrading?
