Really i dont know what's wrong. I've installed NASlite on intel 468DX / 100mhz, 16MB of ram and 10GB seagate HDD. maybe tehe lan adapter is the problem - supercheep TrendNet with RTL-8139D chipset.
When i try to copy files to Naslite, its goes at max 500KBps, but 270KBps at average. No other connection is possible at the ame time, server simply don't respond. And after while it comes down with some message like :" aiee, kernel panic.... out of sync..." or something like that.

Have you any idea what's the reason?
insufficent hardware? LAN card?

So i tried it on my regular pc and used the same 10gb seagate baracuda...
configuration:
Athlon XP 2500+
MSI delta FISR - VIA KT600 chipset
512mb ram
3COM LAN card

so and the performance was better but slill nothing excellent, two simultaneous downoads to the same computer slowed down total connection speed to one 50%. That means each connection was slowed down by 75%.

Can anyone explain this to me? have you any advice?
After that I placed the 3COM card into the original 486 and it crashed after 10 minutes of dowlnoading, with "kernel panic error..." so i don't know what to do.

it says:
<1>Unable to handle kernel paging at virtual adress ae5ch21f
printing eip:

.... some numbers ....

<0> Kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handlier!
In interupt handler - nt syncing

I've dicovered that this error ocures each time when I try to run two simultaneous downloads. On stronger machine it causes big slowdown (75% drop per connection) as I wrote above and my little 486 can't handle it.
if you want whole screen I can make a picture of it and send it to you.

thsnx for any help

The issue is most definitely hardware related. Not sure exactly but it may be a variety of causes. My initial guess would be bad RAM.
