I know this may sound odd but it eould be both kind and very apreciated if you could help me out. Not really NASLite related totally I have a linux box setup with FC4 running as a webserver and setting up SMB so I dont have to FTP into it.... needless to say I am having a bit of trouble. Would it be possible to see the smb.conf file used in the naslite-smb package so I can gt a handle on this? I ask because I dont know how to extract it or anything from the downloadable image and it oooud speed things up alot.

Thnx

Just run SWAT to create your SMB.conf

As I understood it SWAT was a GUI, currently I left the "X" factor out and working with command line only.

OK got it, now I just need to figure out why when I copy from windows to the smb share it keeps cutting my filenames (dialog about characters not permitted) and then it chops it off. I tried plain text and all but it cus it down to 8 characters and the extension.

No doubt it will be something stupid.

The NASLite smbd config file is shown in full on the Info/Server.htm page if that would be helpful. The reason your filenames are truncated is because you are configuring samba to use DOS compattible filenames.
