NASLite Network Attached Storage

I've been away from work for a few days, and have returned to discover that someone has simply unplugged the NAS system from the power supply.

The system has two disks in - Disk One, which is for storage, and Disk Two which is the back-up

I've rebooted, and it finds Disk Two but, when it tries to mount Disk One, it says that it is Not A Disk.

Can anyone help me to solve this? How can I get Disk One To Mount? It's not a problem if I lose the data, because I'll simply transfer it over from the back-up Disk Two. But I cannot lose the data on Disk Two.

First thing you should try is to open the machine and reseat all connectors. Also recheck the jumpers. Reset the BIOS settings if necessary and try again.

Check and see if the BIOS can ID the drives.

If you find it necessary, you can also run full diags on the drive using the OEM utility appropriate for that brand. The answers from that test will be definitive.

It is remotely possible that the disk is damaged but that is not likely.

My guess is that the machine was just switched off rather then shutdown correctly. download knoppix and run a command from that on to the HD.
